ON STAGE Theatre Arts Academy

Since its formation in June 2003 ON STAGE has gone from strength to strength and is fast gaining an excellent reputation as a performing arts academy.

ON STAGE courses are performance based and designed to give young people from 5 to 18 training, knowledge and coaching in all the different strands of performing arts and theatre skills.

Courses

The Combined Course

This consists of one hour of dance and one hour of drama. Stagecraft and other theatre related topics are also included in the curriculum.

Single Subject Course

Students can choose a one hour session in either drama or dance.

Performance

All our students get the opportunity to appear in a Green Room production held at the end of each term and also in a major production staged at one of the Leeds Theatres. This year our show is at The City Varieties on Sunday November 6th.

School Holiday Workshops

ON STAGE School Holiday Workshops have become exceedingly popular and take place during every half term apd full term holiday (except Xmas). Each workshop includes sessions by guest tutors from the professional theatre.

Summer School

Our third Summer School and Performing Arts Workshop will be held during August at West Yorkshire Playhouse. The weekly two day sessions are always very popular so pre-booking is essential.

WHEN

are the classes held?

Classes take place on Saturday afternoons. (times are subject to age and ability)

WHERE

are the Workshops held?

All sessions until December 2005 will take place at West Yorkshire Playhouse. From December we will be in our new home at The Carriageworks - the theatre which is replacing our former home The Civic Theatre.

WHY is "ON STAGE" different?

At ON STAGE we aim to give our students a stimulating all-round training in all aspects performing arts and theatre skills. Whether they aspire to perform in dance or drama or learn more about other strands of theatre related arts; are an absolute beginner or experienced performer ON STAGE has something to capture their interest, develop their potential, increase their knowledge and encourage their creativity.

"The ON STAGE" Team The staff at ON STAGE are all qualified teachers and lecturers in their own particular sphere. Their expertise is backed up by professional experience in the theatre, broadcasting and TV.

One to One Students wishing to receive additional, private or small group tuition in certain subjects or audition coaching can do so for an additional fee. For rates please enquire at the time of enrolment.
