Why choose On Stage Arts Academy
Unlike many of our competitors, we are NOT part of any franchise and therefore we set and maintain our own high and diverse professional standards without having to be guided or controlled or importantly, restricted by others.
At On Stage Theatre Arts Academy we individually and as a team, pride ourselves on our high standard of teaching and as importantly, results. We want our students to be not just among the best but, be the best by giving them the training, tuition and importantly understanding to be able to achieve this as they progress through each term.
All our staff are qualified professionals in their chosen field and many of our contributing supporters still work in key professional theatre and the arts, today.
We intentionally have small classes in each different level (i.e. no classes run with more than 12 students) which means that each student’s learning needs are recognised and individually developed which helps to ensure that, no one student is involved or favoured more than the others.
Large classes NO. Small, more personalised classes YES.
Whilst we, like many of our competitors include Drama, Speech, Dance, Movement and Singing as part of our lessons as each student progresses over time, we also instil professional and theatrical etiquette to all our students.
"It is refreshing to find that On Stage Theatre Arts Academy also teaches the nuts and bolts as well as the good old fashioned basics needed for the profession" (Tony Peers)
Our principal and co founding member Liz Coggins wants all students to gain an additional knowledge and understanding of makeup, hair, costumes for that "visual look" when performing in our shows at professional theatre venues.
What we don't do
We do not claim to be able to make a student the next No 1 singing artist, a famous actor or actress or a top professional dancer but what we do aspire to achieve for those students that want it, is the ability to obtain the skills, learn and use the knowledge, experience and confidence to stand out above the competition should they eventually choose a professional career in the industry.
In essence..... to give them the best chance to win that audition as their first step.
"I want all my students to have the best advantage possible to begin and sustain a career in the industry" (Liz Coggins)
What we do do..
Over the last 20 years On Stage Theatre Arts Academy has seen its students go on to make careers in different spheres of the entertainment industry from solo singers to stage managers in both large, small and touring and television and radio drama productions.
In the cruise industry students have gone on to work for Disney Cruises, Oceania Cruise Lines and P and O whilst others have appeared in Grange Hill, Waterloo Road, Hollyoaks and short and feature films.
We encourage our students to gain academic qualifications in drama and prepare them for drama school interviews and auditions. So far our students have been successful in gaining places at leading drama schools including R.A.D.A., Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Rose Bruford and Central School of Speech and Drama as well as completing Master’s degrees in theatre subjects at various universities.
A numbers of students have also worked in touring productions, pantomimes and summer seasons both in the UK and abroad and our personal contacts within the professional theatre have helped students gain experience and subsequently go on to get jobs as technicians, stage managers and wardrobe/dressers in professional productions.
